Dear Reader,
Leading up to the presidential election later this year, we are “slicing & dicing” The Think Table into three big themes: America’s DNA, Humanity, and Policy. We wrapped up the previous issue on the human stories behind Immigration where we looked at DREAMers and Second Generation Immigrants. Now, we turn to policies. Given America’s immigrant roots and human stories, what are the policies that are in America’s discourse? We start with a phrase that’s all over the news – mass deportation.
We usually stay away from political rhetoric, and former President Donald Trump’s rally cry may seem easy to dismiss as just that. But new polls have found the majority of Americans are now sympathetic to a mass deportation policy (Axios). So we dug into it – What is the policy? What would the consequences be (hint: they would cause great harm to America’s economy)? And how likely is deportation to actually occur?

Hope you gain new insights,
